The Gatlinburg, TN. Welcome Center is located just outside of town. You can get tons of information on the area here. You can also park for free and avoid the traffic hassles in town. The City of Gatlinburg, TN. is nestled at the doorstep of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The choices for entertainment, lodging, and dining seem almost endless. You will notice that all of the stop lights have numbers on them (1-8). These numbers will be reffered to by all of the locals to help you navigate around town
Light number 2 in Gatlinburg
This is where you will turn to get to the Laurel Springs Lodge Bed and Breakfast. The light is a flahing caution light, the road only goes one direction from here. You will go across a short bridge, and take a right in front of the Open Hearth Hotel. You will follow this street for about 300 feet, and the B&B is on the corner.

This intersection could be considered to be the 'center' of Gatlinburg. Hwy 321 goes east from here through Cosby to Newporton I-40. Hwy 441 goes south through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, to Cherokee North Carolina.

The Gatlinburg, TN. bypass re-joins 441
For those people who took the bypass you will re-connect with 441 here. Those who went through town can take a slight detour and drive up the bypass for some nice overlooks over Gatlinburg.
Sugarlands National Park Visitor Center, Junction with TN 73
Stop here to get information, maps, and services located in the Park. The Rangers are on duty, and will help to make your visit more enjoyable. TN highway 73 is a scenic road that follows an old railroad bed along a mountain stream. The road will take you to Cades Cove, or to the town of Townsend.
Nature trails, quite walkways, scenic overlooks
Slow down and enjoy this part of your drive. There are several opportunities to pull over,get out of the car, and enjoy the mountains.
Newfound Gap overlook, Appalacian Trail, NC state line
If you havn't stopped yet get out of the car here! The views are great, you can 'hike' a section of the Appalacian trail, and there are also restrooms here.
