Ranch Road 337 is a winding two-lane road that snakes through limestone canyons with steep grades and frequent river and creek crossings. This pristine Texas hill country area offers breathtaking views along the entire 58 mile stretch. The area between Vanderpool, Texas and Leakey, Texas have been named the 'Swiss Alps of Texas' because of elevations as high as 2200. RR 337 has been designated a number one scenic drive of Texas and is included in cross country bicycling maps, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Heart of Texas Nature Trail. |

Each year Medina, Texas is host to the Texas International Apple Festival held at harvest time, usually the last weekend in July. Other events include the Great Hill Country Pumpkin Patch in October and Peter Rabbit's Hill Country Garden Party in April. Don't blink or you'll miss Vanderpool, Texas, which consists of a US Post Office, Volunteer Fire Department and Lost Maples General Store. To continue on to Utopia, Texas take a left onto 187 and head south for 10 miles. To see Lost Maples State Park take a right and continue north on 187 for 4 miles. To continue the drive on RR 337 to Campwood, Texas take a right onto 187 for one mile and then turn left back onto RR 337, heading west. - Lost Maples State Park Campground. Camping facilities provided include restrooms with showers, picnic sites, primitive camping areas, a comfort station, campsites with water and electricity, and a trailer dump station. |
