Rock Creek Exit
Road to Rock Creek Recreational Area. Excellent fishing in Rock Creek. Old mining town of Quigley used to be down this road. Only a marker now showing where it sat. There are several public and private campgrounds and an excellent B&B. This is a beautiful side trip driving along Rock Creek. Access to the Welcome Creek Wilderness, Babcock Mountain Bighorn Sheep Viewing Area, and Lolo National Forest. Food, lodging, camping.

Access to state park. Fishing and camping on the Clark Fork River. No services.

Bearmouth Area Exit
The Clark Fork crosses the highway here to the north side. This is the historic Bearmouth Area. There is access to the Garnet ghost town at this exit. Garnet is one of the best preserved ghost towns in Montana. Food, gas, lodging and camping.

Town of Drummond. Junction of Montana Hwy. 1 which is the Pintlar Scenic Highway. This beautiful drive takes you through the colorful saphirre mining town of Philipsburg, past Georgetown Lake and the Discovery Ski Area and joins the Interstate again just past the historic town of Anaconda, the home of the worlds tallest smokestack. Food, gas, and lodging.

This exit is where most of the motels and fast food in Butte are located. Going south off this exit will take you to the airport. Going north will wind you toward uptown Butte. All services.

This takes you toward Helena past the mining towns of Boulder and Basin. The radon mines of Montana are along here too. No services.

Continental Dr. Exit
This exit takes you to residential areas of Butte. Immediately past this you will see on your right the Butte High Altitude Training Center for speed skaters. This is where many of the Olympic speed skaters train. Immediately ahead you are entering the Homestake Pass area. Slow down on this stretch. The grade is steep and the curves are tricky. The speed limit for semi's is only 25 mph through most of the pass. No services.

This exit will take you to Homestake Lake. Elevation here at the Continental Divide is 6,393 ft. The unique rock formations through here are part of the Boulder Batholith. No services.

Whitehall has recently become known as the 'City of Murals'. There are more than 10 buildings with scenes depicting the Lewis and Clark Expedition painted on their walls. Junction of County Hwy. 359. This highway parallels the Jefferson River and takes you to Lewis and Clark Caverns. Worth the sidetrip. This is also a backdoor route to Yellowstone Park. Head north from this exit to State Hwy. 69 that will take you along the Boulder River to Boulder Hot Springs and the town of Boulder at the junction of I-15. Gas and camping.

Three Forks Exit
Takes you into small community of Three Forks. Go north to reach the Headwaters State Park. This is where the three forks of the Jefferson River, the Madison River, and the Gallatin River join to form the Missouri. When Lewis and Clark reached this point, they proceeded on up the Jefferson. Just prior to reaching this exit you crossed the Jefferson River. Ahead of you the highway will cross over the Madison River. Just past the Logan Exit you will cross over the Gallatin River. Gas, food, lodging and camping.

Bozeman S. 19th St. Exit
Go south to reach Montana State University campus and The Museum of the Rockies. This museum has the largest collection of dinosaur bones in the world. It is the home of world famous paleontologist Jack Horner. Dr. Horner is the model for the paleontologist in Jurassic Park I and III and was the technical director for all of the JP movies. This is a world class museum with an excellent planetarium. Proceed to the south of town to the Hyalite Recreation Area. This is the most used recreation area in the state. Gas, food, lodging.
