Cody, Wyoming, Named after Buffalo Bill Cody, is located at the western edge of the Bighorn Basin, surrounded by the Big Horn, Owl Creek, Bridger, and Absaroka mountain ranges. The Wyoming Shoshone River passes through Cody. Attractions in and around Cody Wyoming: Buffalo Bill Historical Center, a five museum complex is one of America’s largest museum complexes. The Cody, WY Firearms Museum has world’s largest and most important collections of American and European arms dating back to the 16th century. The museum also has an extensive Plains Indian Museum ranking as one of the countries finest Native American collections. Other attractions: Cody, Wyoming Nite Rodeo & the July 4th Cody Stampede, top contestants for more than 80 years. - Wild Sheep Foundation, features a educational exhibit, admission is free. - Old Trail Town features a collection of historic buildings representing an old Wyoming town created with structures dating from 1879 to 1900. One such structure is the 'Hole in the Wall Cabin' used by Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid and the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang. The Old Trail Town Cemetery is the resting place of Jeremiah Johnson and other characters of the Old West. - Tecumseh's Old West Village and museum, featuring western and Indian artifacts.
