Shoshone National Forest, western boundary - Roadside turnout with information sign The Wyoming, Shoshone National Forest proposed in 1891 making the Shoshone the first national forest in the United States. With Yellowstone National Park on its western border, the Shoshone encompasses the area from the Montana state line south to Lander, Wyoming which includes portions of the Absaroka, WY, Wind River, WY and Beartooth WY, Ranges.

Eden, WY Population 388, Named by Mennonite settlers. Of note here is the Oregon Trail Baptist Church. Heading on south one pass's the Killpecker Dunes on the eastern horizon.
