Wisconsin United States #2
State Route 2 (Junction of Route 53 to Michigan State Line)
Wisconsin Road Map Travel Guide

In 1918 Wisconsin became the first state to adopt a signed system, which included numbering, to identify it's roads. In 1926, SR210 was designated as a federal highway. The Wisconsin portion of US Highway 2 runs just south of Lake Superior through the northern part of the state. The great white pine forest of northern Wisconsin was logged off around the turn of the century and has been replaced with mixed wood forests and open farmland. Scattered descendant white pines can be seen along the highway. At Ashland, US 2 follows the shoreline for a few miles and the city maintaines several beaches along the southern shore of Chequamegon Bay.
