In 1921 a scheduled ferry service from Astoria, WA, to Megler on the Washington side, was established. The operation of the ferry system was taken over by the State of Oregon in 1946, with operational control being assigned to the State Highway Department.

4.0 (131.3)	2.5 (81.6)	Fort Columbia, Washington State day Park	Fort Columbia, Washington State Park is a 593-acre day-use historical park with 6,400 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Columbia River. The park celebrates a military site that constituted the harbor defense of the Columbia River from 1896 to 1947. The fort was fully manned and operational through three wars. The area was also home for the Chinook Indians and their famed Chief Comcomly. The park has 25 unsheltered picnic tables

The park offers 27 miles of ocean beach, two lighthouses, an interpretive center and hiking trails. Visitors enjoy beachcombing and exploring the area's rich natural and cultural history. The nearby coastal towns of Ilwaco and Long Beach feature special events and festivals spring through fall. Fort Canby has 150 standard campsites, 77 utility sites, one dump station, eight restrooms (two ADA) and 14 showers (four ADA). Maximum site length is 45 feet (may have limited availability).Camping is available year-round. South to Lewis and Clark Interpretive Centre.

The park provides one reservable kitchen shelter with water, electricity and 15 picnic tables, and another (first-come, first-served) without water and electricty. There are 21 additional day-use picnic tables.

Maximum site length is 35 feet (may have limited. availability). The park has 60 utility spaces, one restroom and two showers. There are six camping loops, each with ten full-hookup campsites and large, paved driveways that will accommodate larger rigs. Maximum site length is 40 feet.
