Photo #5770 - Lions Park Rest and picnic area, just south of the bridge over the Colorado River. Sign with the history of Moab, Utah at southwestern corner. The present bridge is near where the old Spanish Trail, linking the Spanish missions in Sante Fe in New Mexico and Los Angeles in California, crossed the Colorado River. The Spanish Trail was the first trade route through Utah. Utah Highway US 191 is southeastern Utahs main artery, interlinking beautifully sculpted canyons, breathtaking red rock formations, majestic snow-capped mountain peaks, rugged and colorful high desert beauty, geological treasures, mysterious prehistoric ruins and rock art, historic sites, a myriad of recreational opportunities and old-fashioned western hospitality.
