Hanksville, Utah
Elevation 4,315 ft. Population 225. Founded in 1882 by Ebenezer Hanks and other Mormon settlers along the Fremont River, the town soon became a regional supply depot for local miners, ranchers and farmers. Hanksville is the last stop before Robbers Roost Canyon, where Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch would hide out.
