Founded in 1882 by Ebenezer Hanks and other Mormon settlers along the Fremont River, the town soon became a regional supply depot for local miners, ranchers and farmers. Hanksville is the last stop before Robbers Roost Canyon, where Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch would hide out. Campground, lodging, restaurants.
