Junction Utah Highways SR 313 and US 191

Northern end of Utah Highway SR 313 (Dead Horse Mesa) Scenic Byway at mile marker 136.8 on US 191 and 11 miles north of downtown Moab, Utah or 20 miles south of Exit 180 on I-70. The road runs up mid-Sevenmile Canyon. Elevation 4,400 feet. Upper Sevenmile Canyon, Utah - North and South Forks

Confluence of the North Fork and the South Fork of Sevenmile Canyon. Elevation 4,500 feet. SR 313 runs in the bottom of the North Fork for half a mile before ascending the slopes above it. A 4-WD trail runs up into South Fork. |

Monitor and Merrimac Buttes
 |
View area. Elevation 4,800 feet. The Monitor and Merrimac Buttes are 600 feet high monoliths which are so-named because of their resemblance to the two Civil War ironclad ships. The Monitor, to the right, was the Union ship. The Merrimac was the Confederate ship.
For the next miles, the North Fork and the South Fork of Sevenmile Canyon are to the right and left of this narrow finger of the Big Flat (or Island-in-the-Sky) peninsula. |

Gemini Bridges Road

Also known as Arths Pasture Road. This off-highway vehicle road is one of the most popular trails in the Moab area. It is 14 miles long and has a 1,400 feet descent from here to Hwy US 191, where the road ends at marker 135.6. The road features twin arches as well as outstanding views of the area. |

The Knoll, Utah
 |
Elevation 6,100 feet. The dome of sandstone just east of this junction is called The Knoll, the high central point on the Big Flat (or Island-in-the-Sky) peninsula. The road straight ahead enters the Island-in-the-Sky District of Canyonlands, Utah National Park after 4.5 miles.
SR 313 goes left (east) and enters Dead Horse Point State Park after 4 miles.

Long Canyon Road

This off-highway vehicle road connects with Potash Road (SR 279 Scenic Byway along the Colorado River)after 7.5 miles. Spectacular views of Behind-the-Rocks (series of parallel sandstone walls) below the peaks of the La Sal Mountains.

Dead Horse Point , Utah State Park

The road ends 3.8 miles ahead in Dead Horse Point State Park, one of Utah's most spectacular state parks providing a breathtaking panorama of Canyonland's sculptured pinnacles and buttes.
