North Carolina state line at Newfound Gap in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park
This road is continuing from Hwy 441 from Gatlinburg Tennessee. Newfound Gap is the state line between Tenessee and North Carolina. The Appalachian Trail crosses here, so you can 'hike' a short section of the 'AT'. There are also restrooms here. The scenery from here is fantastic!

    The Great Smoky Mountains National Park Campground Information
    The National Park Service maintains developed campgrounds at 10 locations in the park. They are Abrams Creek, Balsam Mountain, Big Creek, Cades Cove, Cataloochee, Cosby, Deep Creek, Elkmont, Look Rock, and Smokemont. You can download a park map at www.nps.gov/grsm/pphtml/maps.html to find the location of these campgrounds in the park.

        Side road to Clingmans Dome, the highest point in Tennesse
        This is a seven mile detour to see Clingmans Dome. The views from parking area at the end is worth the drive alone. There is a steep hike to the top of the Dome, but on a clear day it is well worth it! At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the highest point in Tennessee
