Description:
On September 14, 1901, Theodore Roosevelt took the oath of office as the 26th President of the United States in the Ansley Wilcox house after the assassination of President William McKinley. In addition, before becoming a National Historic Site, the house had a long and varied history as part of a U.S. Army Barracks, a prominent Buffalo residence and later a popular restaurant.

Accessibility: A portable ramp allows visitors access to the first floor (three restored rooms and permanent exhibit area)
A wheelchair lift allows access to the lower level (education classroom and accessible restroom)
There is no access to the second floor (one restored room, gift shop, changing exhibit gallery).
Getting Around: The park is only 1.3 acres. There is a path between the parking lot on Franklin St. and Delaware Ave. (the main thoroughfare)

Plane: Buffalo-Niagara International Airport - to Rt. 33 west to Locust St. exit to Goodell St. to Edward St. Turn right at Franklin St. Site parking is 2 3/4 blocks up on the left side.
Car: From I-90 east: Follow same directions as airport.
From I-90 west: Exit at 190 north to Church St. Left on Franklin St. Parking lot is one mile north on the left.
Public Transportation Metro buses # 11 or 25 leaves visitors off in front of Site.
Metro rail: Allen St. station. Walk two blocks west on Allen to Delaware Avenue and then one block north (right) on Delaware.
