Byway: Illinois - Ohio River Scenic Route - Illinois

Byway Description: The natural features of the Ohio Valley in Illinois represent some of the most dramatic along the entire river. View unique limestone features such as Cave-in-Rock State Park and Garden of the Gods. Visit numerous historic places, including Fort Massac, Underground Railroad sites, and the Buel House, a Trail of Tears designated site. Old Shawneetown, Golconda, and Cairo have numerous historic structures from the 1820's and 1830's. Also, the byway corridor is host to festivals and events that occur year round.
