State Highway 24 Colorado Springs to Vail (Junction of I-70):
Town of Chipita Park, Colorado
(Population 704) (Elevation 7500) West to Cities of Woodland Park, Leadville, Colorado. West to 'Top of the Rockies National Scenic Byway ' west of highway. Travelers cross the 10,424-foot Tennessee Pass en route to the booming mining town of Leadville, the highest incorporated community in the US. West access to Mueller State Park Campground. Mueller State Park anchors at the west side of Pikes Peak and extends over 5,000 acres across some of the most gorgeous land in the state. The park offers visitors camping in spectacular forested areas with modern facilities such as flush restrooms and a camper services building. West access to Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Florissant Fossil Beds, just west of Pikes Peak holds spectacular remnants of the earth's prehistoric life. Huge petrified redwoods and incredibly detailed fossils of ancient insects and plants reveal a very different Colorado of long ago.
