    Globe-Miami, are two communities just east of Phoenix and north of Tucson. Mining began over 100 years ago when silver was first discovered. A huge nugget of silver with many veins had been dug from beneath the earth. It resembled a globe, and that’s how Globe got its name. Globe was founded in 1876.
