This campground recreation site is located along the Kasilof River. This site is a popular place to launch drift boats. There are 10 campsites, 25 day-use parking sites and a boat launch. .

West side of highway. Crooked Creek State Recreation Site is a short distance from the confluence of Crooked Creek and the Kasilof River. It offers some of the most successful king salmon bank fishing in the state. Campground facilities: 80 campsites and 36 day-use parking sites.

According to legend, Anchor Point got its name when Captain Cook lost an anchor near the mouth of the river. The Anchor River is one of Alaska’s best fishing areas. Across Cook Inlet from Anchor Point one can view, three of seven volcanoes bordering the inlet. To the south, Mount Augustine, then Mount Iliamna, and Mount Redoubt to the north. Mount Augustine’s last volcanic eruption was in March 1986; Mount Redoubt’s latest volcanic eruption was in April 1990. No eruption of Mount Iliamna has ever been recorded.
