Popocatepetl and Iztaccihatl Volcano view
This two volcanoes stand the view along the highway, The Popocatepetl also called "Don Goyo" is an active volcanoes and has had more than 20 major eruptions since the arrival of the Spanish in 1519. Popo is currently active, it's last eruption was on December 2000. The Iztaccihatl resembles a woman lying down and together have echoed a legend that is well known: They were once a maiden and a worrier in the Aztec empire, he was forced to go to war by her father and she received the news he had died, in grief she died crying for her lover, and when he came back took her body over a hill and shout to the gods in anger and despair, they covered them with branches and snow and so they became the woman laying down and the worrier kneeling by her side ever since.
