Chiapas Mexico highways run through many natural wonders with a tropical climate is one of the richest states in Mexico that has a lush vegetation, also one with many aquifers, rivers, lagoons, pools, dams and marshes, so is a great state to practice all kind of water sports, kayaking, fishing, swimming, scuba diving and sailing. It borders with Guatemala and the Pacific Ocean.

Chiapas is a state with a deeply rooted on it's traditions, festivities and gastronomy. Is home to the ancient Maya civilization, so taking the highways you will travel to many important archaeological sites including those at Tonina, Bonampak, Yaxchilan and the ever mysterious Palenque, that are real wonders even in today's world. Today the Maya descendants are the main inhabitants of the state, proud people with a deep knowledge of their environment. Chiapas boasts the most complex biodiversity in the country, making it a true natural paradise. Travel the Chiapas Scenic Loop, travel east on State Highway #190 or use the toll highway, then turn south at San Crisobal de las Cadas. Highway #190 comes near the Guatemala border then becomes Highway #211 which heads west across the Searra Madres mountains. Take the toll highway 200D to Arriaga and head north on the connector to Highway #190 again. Along this route, you'll see stunning mountain ranges, crystal clear rivers, volcanoes, lakes and lush forests to breathtaking plains, canyons, waterfalls and savannahs.

In Tuxtla City , visit the Cathedral of San Marcos, built in the mid-16th century. Tuxtla´s museums showcases indigenous art and culture. Learn about jungle ecology at the highly regarded Miguel Alvarez del Toro Zoo.

Stop at San Cristobal de las Casas, in the heart of the Chiapas highlands. enjoy the unique gold and/or amber jewelry along Plaza 31 de Marzo. Visit the beautiful cathedral and many interesting churches in this historical city.
