Town of Watson Lake, Yukon - Photo Watson Lake Signpost Forest The world famous signpost forest, was started in 1942 by a homesick U.S. Army G.I. He erected a sign here, stating the mileage to his hometown. Others followed his lead and are still doing so to this day. Access to Visitor Information Center, north side of highway. The Visitor Information Center have a vidio that explains the building history of the Alaska Highway. Center is adjacent to the Sign Forest.
