Junction of Highway #915, east to Stanley Mission Historic site, 36km's east. The Old Village of Stanley Mission was founded in 1852 when Rev. Robert Hunt of the Church Missionary Society selected a promontory on the north shore of the English (Churchill) River as the location for a permanent mission to Cree families in the area. He hired the Hudson's Bay Company carpenter and a couple of Cree men to build his home and a school. While working on his home, the men also built homes for their own families. In 1854, construction began on Holy Trinity Church. - Stanley Mission, SK; attractions, include Twin Falls, ancient Indian rock paintings, the roaring Big Stanley and Little Stanley Rapids, and the scenic Nistowiak Falls, which carries the waters of Lac La Ronge, SK into the Churchill River, SK.
