Cabot Trail Scenic Drive Trailway: The Cabot Trail Scenic Trailway is one of the most beautiful scenic drives in the world. Named for famous explorer John Cabot. The highway has long steep grades which have been carved into the sides of mountains overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The highway rises north to Cape Breton Highlands National Park where it descends following the west coast line.

West side of highway. At this observation point is a plaque dedicated to Canada's Grey Owl. Displayed is the following quote from his memoirs.

We need an enrichment other than material prosperity and to gain it we have only to look around at what our country has to offer...'
