The Halifax Citadel, NS dominates the skyline of Nova Scotia's capital. A massive, star-shaped fortification that is considered one of Canada's most important historic sites. The present citadel, completed in 1856, is the fourth fort built on this site after the British founded Halifax in 1749 as one of four principal overseas naval stations in the British Empire.
