West to town of Gold River, South to cities of Nanaimo, Victoria VANCOUVER ISLAND This highway is called the Inland Highway Route. This highway gives access to many tourist destination communities, offering lodging and campground facilities along the way. Highway #19 is the fastest route north. Highway 19a the Seashore Route (which parallels this highway) follows this highway at a more leisurely pace along the eastern coast line of Vancouver Island.
