The town of Stewart, British Columbia & Hyder, Alaska, only highway access is west from British Columbia's Highway #37 - The Cassiar - Stewart Highway. Situated across from Alaska's Misty Fjords National park, Stewart is a unique border town attracting many tourists from around the world. One can view the famous Bear Glacier, B.C. one of the few blue glaciers with the easiest access in the world, from one of the roadside turnouts, scenic view area's, from this highway.

The Stewart townsite is very interesting with many of the buildings dating from 1910 when 10,000 people lived there during the Gold Rush era. Stewart's colorful history has been dictated by the fortunes of the mining industry.
