This highway is called the Oceanside Route. Highway 19a follows the east coast of Vancouver Island passing through many tourist destination centers. This is a slower scenic drive route. Highway #19 The Inland Highway Route paralleling Highway 19a bypasses most of these communities

Spider Lake Provincial Park, West of highway. Day Park no campground. One of the best picnic sites in the area, Spider Lake features a small sandy beach perfect for water lovers of all ages on a hot summer day. The warm water of Spider Lake is noted for its excellent canoeing, kayaking and swimming and the park is an idyllic spot for a quiet family outing.
