The rocks exposed in the canyon record a time of major environmental and climatic changes that happened 70 million years ago Alberta Highway # 9 Alberta's Highway 9 passes rolling farmlands and through the City of Drumheller, home of The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Plaeontology which has the worlds largest exhibit of complete dinoaur skeletons.
Drumheller is part of the Dinosaur Trail, a 50km side trip from highway #9 circling through the badlands of the Red Deer Valley.
Drumheller is also home to the worlds largest standing dinosaur 25.9mtrs 85' high.
