Access to the town of Cochrane Alberta. Cochrane was established in 1881 as the Cochrane Ranche by Senator Matthew Henry Cochrane. Cochrane, Alberta, is situated at the base of Big Hill in the Bow River Valley. It sits at an elevation of 1,186 meters (3,891 ft). North to community of Walparous, Alberta, Nordegg, Alberta. Nordegg, was initially founded as a coal mining town in the early 1900s and is named after Martin Nordegg. - Attractions: Most of the surface coal processing operation is still standing. In 1993 it was declared a Pronvicial Historic Resource, and in 2002 a National Historic Site. The original Nordegg town site is open to the public. At the mine site, visitors may experience a guided tour of the coal handling, processing and support facilities during the summer tourist season. Access to White Water Rafting.

South side of highway - Access to Ghost Lake Reservoir, Alberta. Facilities: Public Pay Telephone, Pit Toilets, water, boat launching site, benches, garbage containers. Ghost Lake Reservoir, Alberta lies in the foothills of the Alberta, Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 1,188 m (3,898 ft) and is lined on the north shore by Highway 1A. Trans-Canada Highway passes a short distance to the south. It was formed in 1929 with the completion of the Ghost Dam.The lake and dam are primary used for power generation. Fishing: The reservoir offers Lake Trout, Brown Trout, Cutthroat Trout and Whitefish. The location brings consistent, strong winds, which make the lake suitable for Sailing and Iceboating.
